Abstrak

Topographic surveys require measurement methods that are accurate, efficient, and suitable for field constraints. This study evaluates the performance of Total Station measurements using a prism and a non-prism or reflectorless mode at Campus II of Politeknik Negeri Kupang. Measurements were conducted at comparable survey points to examine differences in coordinates, area, and contour representation. Coordinate data (X, Y, Z) were processed statistically using mean difference, standard deviation, and percentage area difference, while contour visualization was prepared using AutoCAD Civil 3D. The results show that the measured area using the prism method was 19,688 m2, whereas the reflectorless method produced 19,665 m2, with a difference of 23 m2 or 0.12%. The average coordinate differences were 0.023 m for X, 0.013 m for Y, and 0.022 m for Z. The contour maps generated by both methods display similar terrain patterns, although the prism method provides more consistent elevation results, particularly in sloping areas. The reflectorless method remains useful for rapid surveys and inaccessible targets, but it should be applied with attention to target material, color, surface roughness, incidence angle, and measurement distance. This study recommends the prism method for detailed engineering surveys and the reflectorless method as a practical alternative for reconnaissance surveys or field conditions where prism placement is difficult.
