Abstract
Bridges are vital transportation infrastructures that connect areas separated by natural obstacles, ensuring the efficient movement of people and goods. The steel truss bridge connecting Uel Hamlet and Padang Beringin Hamlet in Nunkurus Village, East Kupang District, Kupang Regency, has experienced deterioration of its timber deck slabs, creating potential safety hazards for road users. This study aims to redesign the bridge structure, including both the superstructure and substructure, in accordance with RSNI T-03-2005, SNI 1725:2016, SNI 1729:2020, and the Practical Guidelines for Bridge Engineering Design. Structural analysis and design were performed using SAP2000 software.
The redesigned superstructure consists of a 0.25 m reinforced concrete deck slab (D16-100 reinforcement), IWF 400.200.8.13 steel stringers equipped with 32 shear connectors (Ø16 × 125 mm), IWF 600.200.11.17 cross beams with 100 shear connectors (Ø16 × 125 mm), L100.100.12 wind bracing members, and IWF 294.302.12.12 main truss sections. The bearing system utilizes elastomeric bearings measuring 500 mm × 380 mm × 106 mm. The substructure includes an abutment 8.35 m high and 7.50 m wide, a 0.70 m thick back wall, a footing measuring 7.50 m in width and 2.00 m in thickness, and 0.50 m thick wing walls, all reinforced according to design requirements.
